Advizzo is delighted to have been awarded a grant towards “Driving behavioural change in energy and water consumption to overcome households’ financial difficulties derived from Covid-19.” 

 

The grant has been awarded by Innovate UK. It will be used to fund a research and development (R&D) project to demonstrate how Advizzo’s customer engagement software platform combined with data science and behavioural science approach, can help financially vulnerable utility customers to save water and energy, thereby reducing their utility bills.

 

Innovate UK is part of UK Research and Innovation, a non-departmental public body funded by a grant-in-aid from the UK government. Advizzo’s R&D project, which will run until November 2020, aims to address the UK wide challenges that have been compounded by the Covid-19 virus.

How is your utility company putting its data to use for the environment ?

With households across the country forced into lockdown, energy and water consumption increased significantly, seriously impacting bills and affordability. According to Innovate UK, energy and water consumption increased by an additional £54 million/week – that’s £18/month per household. A significant increase for many households already facing financial difficulties.

 

Innovate UK intends to help utility companies better support vulnerable customers with a Corporate Social Responsibility approach. Advizzo will work with a selected water and energy company to create tailored Covid-19 related customer reports. By combining data science to understand customer usage and comparable usage, and behavioural science to understand customer engagement and motivation, we will drive behavioural change to reduce consumption with personalised tips and advice in individual reports.
